I FINALLY had a chance, today, to meet up with Brian Reed from Timberline. I can tell everyone, without a doubt, that Timberline is dedicated to the progression of their parks. We kicked around thoughts and ideas about what we think makes a good park. From a riders perspective as well as the resort's. I think we are on the same page. I can't really dive to deep into the details at this point but I will post updates as I get them.
All I can say is...everyone, be prepared to get involved.
i just have a question about the little cabin being located in the middle of the park...
ReplyDeletewill this little food shack attract those who don't need to be purchasing food and beverages in the middle of the park? clogging and creating hazards for all those who love to catch air and grab tail? it's a nice thought to have a spot to kick it, or hang out at and watch your friends rip, but to make it a destination for family's to gather at might create problems getting them out of the park safely. just a thought. however, keystone's park has a shack, where you can drop off your packs, and eat and drink bag lunches and road sodas. just an idea. -thanks
How well does Keystone's work?
ReplyDeletei agree with anonymous, it's hard enough trying to dodge the newbies that go through the park we don't need whole families or little kids in the big boys park just sitting around snacking. It was a caring idea
ReplyDeletekeystone's shack works well. however, they don't sell beverages and snacks in it. it serves as a spot to rest or store your camera while goofing off. i'm not against the sale of food/drink, but if word catches, i am afraid that it (the deck area, of the cabin) will be filled with tourists and unless there is a designated exit of the park from the cabin there will probably be those same tourists sitting on the landings of the jumps. signage is key! you have to make sure any and all signs posted in terrain parks clearly express the feelings of those who maintain and educatedly shred the terrain. i am really not one for rules or to be professional about it. i trust that timberline will make a well educated decision, but if you could park guru, just give them some insight. i just want this first winter of mine out here in the northwest to be the best ever, as well as for all you northwest locals. now pray for powder... peace
ReplyDeleteWhy dont you "anonymous" guys sign up and follow? I'm stoked you're giving feedback about what you would like to see in the park. Thats the whole reason I started this blog. The idea of the shack is still something that is just that, an idea. But like you said it can't congest the park. It would have to be at the top where all that open area is. I expressed my thoughts about park crew enforcement when it comes to families in the park. I've tried to tell people that are just trying to make turns through the park or "watch". Then they get all mad. "I paid for a lift ticket too you know" haha Dick! If they are approached by park crew about it, it's more official. So thats a big deal. I want everyone to know that the things that are talked about on here ARE taken into consideration in the parks. I want people to say when something is shitty as well as when its sick! Timberline is going to be doing some cool things this winter. Stay on the look out!
ReplyDeleteI think depending on it's location in regards to the park flow the shack could be an attractive addition for park regulars. Location would be everything though and I don't know or remember the layout too accurately. It might be worth a try, something simply with a water station with a picnic table area for dumpin photos or swappin tapes.
ReplyDeleteMotive...youre spot on. just somewhere with lockers to store your camera or lunch. or a place with some vending machines to grab a quick snack. I totally agree it would have to be somewhere that didnt clog up the park. It would be awesome to not have to go all the way back to the lodge to grab a drink of water, or the camera. Like I said this is just an idea right now. Now plans in the works to do it. Just a thought and Im trying to get feedback. Thanks everyone.
